Principals

Michael Puckett CPA, CFE

Michael PuckettExperience:

Immediately prior to founding Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C., Michael was at another local CPA firm for over eleven years, including the last four as a principal of the firm. Michael has been in public accounting since 1995 and also spent two years in private industry. While in industry, Michael worked in the tax department for a large international conglomerate with operations in Walkerville, Ontario, Canada.

In addition to serving as the Managing Principal and President of Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C., Michael manages a diverse group of clients. He is actively involved in the areas of accounting and auditing, consulting, tax preparation and planning, business valuation, litigation support and forensic accounting. The wide variety of clients that he serves includes both for-profit (corporations, S-corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies) and non-profit organizations, as well as individuals, trusts, and estates. His industry experience includes manufacturing, retail, service, health care, community development, contracting and construction, dealerships, real estate, entertainment, self-insurance funds and employee benefit plans.

Michael works very closely with his clients and continues to actively seek out new client relationships through which he can share his expertise.

Education

Michael obtained his Bachelor of Accountancy degree from Walsh College in 1994. In 1995, he successfully completed the CPA exam and was certified in 1997.

James Clement CPA

James ClementExperience:

Jim began his public accounting career with Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) where he worked in the auditing department. He then spent forty-four years with two local CPA firms before joining Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C., including forty as a principal with Clement & Francis, P.C.

Jim has extensive experience in all areas of public accounting including non-profit and for-profit organizations in a wide variety of industries. He is involved in tax planning and compliance and consulting and problem-solving for his individual and business clients. Jim also has substantial experience handling IRS and state tax audits for his clients.

Education

Jim obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Detroit. He completed the CPA exam in May 1966 and received the Paton Award for the highest score in the State of Michigan for that exam.

Tom Schellenberg J.D., CPA

Tom SchellenbergExperience:

Tom began his public accounting career in 1973 with Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte LLP) where he worked for almost nine years in the tax department. He then spent thirty years managing his own tax and business consulting firm before joining another local CPA firm as a principal in early 2012, bringing his clients and staff from Schellenberg & Associates, P.C. to the firm. Tom left this local CPA firm to become one of the founding principals of Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C..

Tom has extensive experience in all tax areas of public accounting including non-profit and for-profit organizations in a wide variety of industries. He is involved in income and estate/gift tax planning, and compliance, consulting and problem-solving for his individual and business clients. Tom has substantial experience handling IRS and state/local tax audits for his clients.

Education:

Tom obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University in 1968. After a break of two years in the U.S. Army (Vietnam, 14 months) he completed his law degree at Wayne State University Law School in 1973.

Plastipak Holding Company and subsidiaries (1996 to present), Board of Directors and Chairman of Board Search Committee and Deferred Compensation Committee; Talmer Bancorp Inc. and subsidiary (2009 to present), Audit Committee and Chairman of Trust and Compensation Committees.

Michigan Opera Theatre Board of Trustees, past Finance Committee Member; past Treasurer, Budget Director and Board Member of the Michigan Opera Theatre Guild; Birmingham-Bloomfield Jaycees, past Chairman of the Board, President, Treasurer and State Director; Birmingham Rotary Club, Past Member; Camp Oakland Youth Programs, Inc., past Board of Director; Republican Committee of Oakland County, past Chairman of Finance Committee, Member of Executive Committee and former State and Precinct Delegate; Oakland County Economic Development Corporation, past Board Member.

Past Board Member and an active member of the Birmingham Country Club and the Detroit Athletic Club.  Member of Birchwood Farms Golf and Country Club in Harbor Springs.

Adrienne Johnson CPA, MST

Adrienne JohnsonExperience:

Adrienne has been a tax manager since 1988. She joined Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C. upon formation, having spent twenty-four years with local CPA firms, including twenty-two with Schellenberg & Associates, P.C. Before joining Schellenberg & Associates, P.C. in 1990, she worked at large international CPA firms for seven years.

Adrienne specializes in taxes and tax planning. Adrienne’s tax experience includes planning and compliance for high wealth individuals, service industries, real estate entities, and trusts and estates. She has handled Internal Revenue Service audits, State of Michigan audits, and other compliance matters.

Education

Adrienne obtained her Bachelor of Accountancy in 1984 and her Masters of Taxation in 1994 from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.  Adrienne has been a certified public accountant since 1986.

Managers

Thomas Valliere CPA

Thomas ValliereExperience:

Upon graduation from the University of Maine, Tom began his accounting career working for a Resort Hotel Group with locations in Kennebunkport, Maine and Delray Beach, Florida. He began his Public accounting career while living in Southern California for three years. Tom then spent twenty-five years with Clement & Francis, P.C., before joining a local CPA firm via merger as a Supervisor in November 2010. Tom joined Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C. upon its formation.

As a Manager, Tom is actively involved with tax preparation and review, accounting, consulting and tax planning. He has extensive experience preparing and reviewing compiled, reviewed and audited financial statements and management reports, in a wide variety of industries, including both profit and non-profit entities.
