Tom began his public accounting career in 1973 with Touche Ross & Co. (now Deloitte LLP) where he worked for almost nine years in the tax department. He then spent thirty years managing his own tax and business consulting firm before joining another local CPA firm as a principal in early 2012, bringing his clients and staff from Schellenberg & Associates, P.C. to the firm. Tom left this local CPA firm to become one of the founding principals of Puckett, Clement and Schellenberg, P.C..
Tom has extensive experience in all tax areas of public accounting including non-profit and for-profit organizations in a wide variety of industries. He is involved in income and estate/gift tax planning, and compliance, consulting and problem-solving for his individual and business clients. Tom has substantial experience handling IRS and state/local tax audits for his clients.
Tom obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University in 1968. After a break of two years in the U.S. Army (Vietnam, 14 months) he completed his law degree at Wayne State University Law School in 1973.
